As a painter, designer, and photographer, I strive to create thought provoking works to generate an emotional response. Tight cropping and bold color usage creates intensity, intimacy, and mood. I like to give people a different perspective and I make conscious choices to connect with the viewer. My work explores the depths of humanity from the dark, hidden parts of ourselves to the bright and luminous. People are eternally fascinating, and like art, become compilations of layers and nuances through time. Seeing a fresh perspective deepens our compassion and understanding. Frequent participation in Grand Rapids’ ArtPrize increased my art exposure to the public and gained me a compliment from New York art critic Jerry Saltz who called me a "true artist". I have added art instruction to my list of credentials, to further share my passion for art with all ages. My designs are intended for everyone, and I appreciate opportunities to reach new audiences.
